Jason's Weekly De-Scramble 10.25.24

Good afternoon,

I hope everyone is having a great week and is enjoying this beautiful weather and has had a chance to play some golf as well.

The Maintenance team had another great week as we still try to clean up from the Hurricane and continue to work on getting the golf course in the conditions we are all looking for. This past week we continued to spray for weeds as we are trying to get them back under control. They have been going around and finishing cleaning the down trees and working on the cart path on #11. We’ve also spent time this week working on the mowers and sharpening the blades so we can get a better cut on the tees, fairways, and greens. In doing this we will start getting a better cut and hopefully see some speed on the greens.

Next week we will continue to work on the weed control on the back nine and will drop heights on all cuts as well. Also, the herbicide we are using is only taken up by the roots, so it has to be watered in. It also causes phytotoxicity to the plant causing it to go off color. Which it will quickly grow out of. You will start to notice the course getting firmer and possible dry spots as we adjust irrigation heads. We are drying the golf course in order to help the plant establish a deep healthy root system. This is done by drought stressing the plant driving the roots down into the soil looking for water. We are doing these things to maintain a stronger turf.

We are working very hard to get #11 open as the water level is going down, but at the same time it’s going up on Hole 12. We may have to send everyone down the street after the hit their tee shots on #12 so we can maintain positive turf around the green. From what I’m reading they are saying the water level in the St. John River is supposed to go down this weekend.

Hopefully everyone likes the new pin colors we went to last week as this will help find the pin location better. The team is doing a great job and I’m very excited about the conditions as we continue to strive to have a better golf course.

We are very excited about tomorrow night as we are having the Halloween Glow in the Dark event. We have a lot of neat ideas, and we are looking for a fun evening. We will start with registration in the Golf Shop followed by the meal in the Oak Room and Tavern. I hope everyone has signed up and looking forward to a fun night!!

Also, we will have the Thanksgiving Turkey Shoot sign up online starting tomorrow at noon. The event will be November 23rd with an 8:30 AM shotgun start.

Also, we appreciate all the support with people buying the new merchandise in the Golf Shop as we continue to get new items. Also, please make sure everyone signs up for the new Membership so you can receive your 3% discount. Also, we will discuss more membership items at my quarterly meeting this Thursday October 31st at 2:00 pm in the Restaurant. I hope we get to see a lot of people and let everyone know the new plans we have for the upcoming season.

We continue to have great results in the F&B Area as we get busier daily, and we continue to book private events and have more and more calls for outside groups looking to come and experience the great atmosphere we have here at ARGC. The team continues to get better with daily training and understanding the direction we are striving for. The daily lunch and dinner specials continue to be a huge success and have had numerous great comments on these items.

We are also working on a new menu that we would like to roll out in November, and we look forward to everyone coming out and trying some of the new items we will have on the new menu.

Another great week of specials and we hope we see everyone and please call to make a reservation as we have been getting busier and want to make sure we can service everyone.

I’m very happy with the direction we are heading at and the “TEAM” we are building as you will start to see some new faces around in the next few weeks as we have been getting busier in all areas of the property and I have a lot of wonderful changes that we are about to make. I truly appreciate all the support from the community and also appreciate the great constructive criticism as well. I know I get a lot of requests and I do write them down and we will get to them, it might not be as fast as everyone wants but we will get to them. My goal is to make ARGC a great golf course and great restaurant atmosphere. We can’t get there without all of your support.

Have a great weekend and enjoy this weather and please let me know if you need anything else.

Thanks,
